The pros and cons
of a hyperbaric chamber.

Both sides, without the gloss. What owning a hyperbaric oxygen chamber really gives you, and what is worth weighing calmly before you buy one.

// Before you start

A word of caution about what you'll read.

Search for hyperbaric chamber pros and cons and you'll find lists of “benefits” that promise a lot. We build the equipment. We are not a clinic, we don't run sessions, and we won't credit a chamber with effects that aren't ours to claim.

So this page sticks to what we can stand behind: what the experience is like, what owning the equipment involves and what tends to catch people by surprise. For any decision about your health, talk to a healthcare professional.

// The pros

Six real advantages.

01

Always available

Your session happens when you decide. No booking, no driving across town and no fitting around anyone else's schedule. For people who make it part of their routine, this often matters more than the money.

02

No tanks, no refills

Oxygen is generated from room air at 93% ±2. There are no cylinders to store, no refill logistics and no supplier you depend on every month.

03

Privacy

A session lasts about 60 minutes and happens in your own space, with your own music or a book. At a shared center, that part simply doesn't exist.

04

Fits your space

A RAL exterior color, the upholstery you choose, heated or massage seats. The chamber looks like part of the room it sits in, not clinical equipment parked in a corner.

05

Revenue, if you run it as a business

At a wellness center, spa or performance center, the chamber is a billable service and a clear point of difference from local competitors.

06

Low maintenance

Filter checks and cleaning your team can handle in minutes, plus scheduled service visits. It isn't equipment that demands constant attention.

// The cons

Six things to weigh first.

01

It's a major investment

Built to order or delivered from stock, it isn't an impulse buy. If you're not sure you'll use it regularly, trying it first at a center or through a demo costs less.

02

It takes up space for good

From about 24 ft² (2.2 m²) plus the access area, and it stays there. Before you buy, use the planner on our home solutions page to check that it really fits your room.

03

It needs a dedicated circuit

No plumbing or construction is needed, but you do need a power supply that meets the spec. We confirm it in the technical survey. Still, it's a step you have to take.

04

Sessions take time

About an hour, plus pressurization and gradual decompression. If your schedule doesn't leave that window on a regular basis, the chamber will end up underused.

05

It isn't for everyone

Some people don't feel comfortable in a closed, pressurized space, and anyone with an ear, sinus or breathing condition should check with a healthcare professional first.

06

Lead time

A made-to-order chamber takes about 8–12 weeks from the first conversation to start-up. In-stock units are delivered and installed in about 10 days. Either way, it isn't something you buy today and have by Friday.

// To decide well

Five questions that save you regret.

  • How many sessions will I really do each month? Be pessimistic about the number. If it's low, paying per session makes more sense.
  • Where will the chamber live? Measure the room and the access route before anything else. Our space planner gives you a first answer in a minute.
  • Who will operate it? At home, you will. At a center, your staff will, so training and staff turnover come into play.
  • Is it for me, or to generate revenue? That changes the math and the recommended model completely. If it's for revenue, use the ROI calculator.
  • Have I tried a session? If not, start there. A demo is free, with no obligation.
